Thanks Mom and Grandma!

Sister Red Baron says,
"I have the best mom and grandma in the world!"
She was so happy to get 2 packages in the mail today!

Happy One Year Anniversary

Sister Red Baron has been on her mission for ONE YEAR today.
Happy Anniversary!

I am so happy that she came into our lives while on her mission.
She is a wonderful, sensitive person....
and a great example of what every missionary should be!
This picture was taken as she studied this morning.

"Royalty"

The Hermanas were waiting for a ride this morning.
I suggested they sit on chairs.
They said, "We feel like Royalty!"

A Day in the Life of a Missionary

Every day is a new day in the life of a missionary.
This morning, without really looking at her,  I let Belle-the-cat inside.
A second later I saw something right next to her.
I went close, to see what it was....
I thought it was a dead bird.
I was not happy at all. In fact, I screamed!
Imagine my surprise when I went to scoop the
dead bird into a box, when the bird decided not to play
dead anymore!

It flew right into the stairway by the Sister's bedroom!
I had to go somewhere and was about to leave
(it was only 8:30 a.m. and much too early for this!)
I didn't have time to deal with it..... so I shut all the doors,
thinking I could keep the birdie contained in the hall.
Sister Padlock came to me with big eyes asking if
they could catch the bird and set her free.
Oh, how happy that made me!
Of course I said yes. I asked her to take a picture first,
so I could blog about it.
She dutifully took a picture,
then our little bird decided to fly
under the closed door into the living room.
  He escaped!

Sister Padlock got a flashlight and located the bird underneath the couch.
She used a yard stick to encourage it to exit the dark safety of its new home, hoping it would walk into the nice cardboard box
held by Sister Red Baron.
Unfortunately, it didn't work.
The bird scooted across the floor into the kitchen.
It looked just like a fast little mouse!
The Sisters were hot on it's trail.
Go SISTERS!
I needed to leave and it was getting later by the minute,
but I was captivated by the eventful happening.
Our little bird then flew onto the kitchen counter
with the Sisters hot on its tail (literally).

I did not see it happen, but the little bird flew in the kitchen,
then over by the window,

The Sisters were so clever. They used a vase I had just washed
that was just sitting on the counter!

 The little birdie was caught.
She was rescued.
Now the cat wouldn't eat her and she would be free.
All thanks to the Sisters!

 After taking a few pictures
these Sister Missionary Bird Rescuers took the captive birdie
outside....

It took some time to find just the right spot....
They thought of several locations....
They didn't want Belle-the-Cat to find her again.
Eventually they let her go in the tree at the neighbor's house
across the street.

They took this picture of her as she flew off to safety
away from the cat and the people and the confinement.
Every day is a new day and today was just one example of
A day in the life of a missionary.....

Sister Padlock and Sister Red Baron

I have nicknames for these Sisters.
They are Sister Padlock and Sister Red Baron.
You can probably figure out which is which.
You see, I have a problem with names.
So I have made up these silly names to help me remember
their REAL names! I think I will try to make up nicknames
for all of the Sisters from now on.

They were so extremely tired last night when they came in
that they dropped on the couch as soon as they walked in the door.
They reported having taught six lessons in one day.
It was a record for them!
I said, "Quick, let me grab my camera,
I want to document this moment."
They are so accommodating....
They even gave me a big smile.

Tonight (Sunday) when they came in they were full of
excitement. They had such a good day!
The Sisters have finally won over Belle-the-cat.
She is not a nice kitty, she has a rather bad reputation...
so I tell all the Sisters to ignore her.
For some reason most of the Sisters who have lived here feel
it is a challenge to win her over.

Belle was sitting on Sister Padlocks lap so I snapped their picture.
Sister Red Baron looked so cute that I just snapped her picture,
too. She said, "Sister Whitley, Belle was sitting on my lap before
she was sitting on her lap."

A little later I was talking on the telephone, then I walked back in the room
and sure enough,  there was bell on HER lap, so
I snapped her picture. She said, "Sister Padlock just stirred
my hair up with static electricity!"  Well, I think she still looks
pretty....so here's one more picture of Sister Red Baron.

My daughter-in-law Amanda always brings dessert to us when they
come to dinner every other Sunday. Sister Padlock said she LOVES
these cookies. I told her I was going to post a picture to show
Amanda how well her dessert is received when she leaves a plate
for the Sisters. And you can see in this picture
how happy and excited the Sisters were tonight.

Time is Flying!

 I realize I haven't posted in a while....
Here are some of my favorite Sister's hard at work planning....

These Sisters don't cook as much as some of the other Sisters.
I will remember them as the ones who liked to eat cereal.
Sister L did cook some beans in the crock pot one day, though.
And Sister H likes to make smoothies.
They also like to put food into tortillas quite a bit.
Their companionship seems to be in a good comfortable groove...
they get along well and seem to enjoy each other's company.

Here they are getting ready to go out to their appointments.
The most important thing to tell you about them is....
they are working hard...
and they love the gospel!

An Eventful Day

The Sisters had an especially eventful day today.
They got to see, hear, and shake Elder Neil L. Anderson's hand.
This picture was taken at the stake center in Colleyville
(or Ft. Worth...I'm not positive on that one)
They bought some Krispy Kreme doughnuts.
They were caught in a small rainstorm.
They found some adorable kittens.
I'm sure you will hear all about it in their next letters.
